Updated: Seesmic for Android Adds Widget Support

We are still searching for that perfect Android Twitter application but Seesmic may have just taken the lead.  They have updated their Android application with some goodies like geotagging, native retweet support and finally a widget feature.  This new update jolts Seesmic ahead of the competition in the Android Market.

One of the best things about the Android OS is the ability to add widgets to your homescreen.  Not all applications offer widget support but the ones that do are our favorites.  Seesmic’s widget is pretty basic, it shows the latest tweet in your timeline and let’s you quickly compose a new tweet to your followers.  The Seesmic team has hinted that they plan on enhancing this widget in later versions.

Along with the new widget feature comes geolocation support.  You can now add your location to each individual tweet or switch it on in the settings to automatically add it to all your updates.  Seesmic also added support for native retweets so you can choose between the old style (quotes) or the new style when you retweet.  Overall Seesmic still has room for improvement but we are happy with this latest update.

You can download Seesmic for Android by searching for ‘Seesmic’ in the Android Market or by scanning the QR code on the left.
