The Complete Guide to Motorola Droid: Tips and Tricks


Welcome to the Simply Droid Complete Guide to Motorola Droid: Tips and Tricks. For the following tips use the pictures below to help you find certain areas of your Droid phone.

The Applications tab:

How to transfer music/video files between the Verizon Motorola Droid and PC:

1. Connect the device to the computer with the USB cable
2. From the home screen, pull down the window shade (Notification bar, located at the top of the screen
- You can also press the Menu Key on the front of your Droid, then select Notifications
3. Select USB Connected
4. Select Mount
5. From File Explorer/Finder on the computer create a music/video folder in Removable Disk (Removable Disk is the 16GB  SD card in your phone )
- For any accompanying artwork in JPEG format, rename the art file albumart.jpg and compy  in the same fold as the music files.
7. To further organize files, create a subfolder in the newly created music folder and copy desired music files into it.
8. Touch Turn Off USB Storage
9. Touch Turn Off
10. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer

How to change the browser home/start page on the Motorola Droid:

1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the screen)
2. Touch Browser
3. Touch Menu
4. Touch More
5. Touch Settings
6. Touch Set Home Page
7. Enter the desired home page address then touch OK

Enabling / disabling Bluetooth – Motorola Droid:

1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen).
2. Touch Settings.
3. Touch Wireless & networks.
4. Touch Bluetooth settings.
5. Touch Bluetooth.
-Bluetooth is enabled if a green check mark is present.

Setting ringtones – Motorola Droid:

1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen).
2. Touch Settings.
3. Touch Sound & display.
4. Touch Phone ringtone.
5. Touch the desired ringtone then touch OK.

How to lock a text message:

1. From the home screen, touch messaging.
2. Open the thread (contacts name) that you want to lock.
3. Press and hold the message.
4. Select Lock message (a lock will appear next to the message if its locked).
5. To unlock a message press and hold on the locked message (lock will disappear).

    I am still having trouble with adding music on my droid…I cannot add a music/vid folder onto my removable disc…I mounted my sd card and it won’t read on my laptop for that matter. If you have anymore suggestions I would really appreciate it thank you.

    I cannot receive text messages on my Motorola Droid. I was able to until last Saturday. I had changed settings on my WiFi so I could log on to my home WiFi and ever since then cannot receive texts. I have tried a factory reset and have tried to delete the static information from the WiFi Advanced page to no avail…Help

    New at this! so I mounted the Droid to my box and made and Music folder and copied Train into that folder . Unplugged the phone and turned it off. Turned it back on. Touched the Music apt. and it was blank. So I guess I did not put the folder in the right place?

    just hold the shortcut for a while and than yu can move it and on the bottom where there is the application bar will appear a little garbage can and just drag it there and it will be gone.

    check out 2guys1droid.blogspot.com just found it from another forum i was on and its pretty helpful JSF12 it tells you how to remove things from the homescreen if you need help with that still and just some other helpful things

    when you are in the message hold down on the message part until a screen pops up that allows you to forward the message CLICK FORWARD, then at the top of the screen is a little plus buttton with a person next to it this will allow you into your contacts to check the ones you want and press done

    I’ve had to exchange 5 Motorola Droid 2 and 3 Motorola Droid 3 Globals. Problems are no signal, dropped calls, no ring tone and going to voicemail automatically. Screen zap outs, battery dead after 3 hrs without running any unnecessary apps whatsoever. And Verizon has the audacity to say, “…this is the last time we will be exchanging your phones.”

    I had a Droid one n didn’t have this prob I now have a Droid 2 I setup my google account and facebook account to syncs w/ the phone the 1st prob is the facebook does not sync when people change theirpics etc it does not change on my phone nor does it give the option to sync the FB account…. 2nd is w/ my google/gmail it syncs w/ mail contacts, and colander but now picasa album as it did w/ the Droid one how do I syncs n update my FB and how do I add my picasa album under my google account
