Have you ever noticed that by default the birthdays and anniversaries of your contacts do not show up on your Android phone’s calendar? There’s a very easy way to sync that information from your contacts to the calendar. Just follow these couple steps:

Sync Contact’s Birthdays with your Android phone’s calendar

  1. Go to www.google.com/calendar
  2. Log on with the same Google account that you use for you Android phone
  3. Under the Other calendars click Add then select Browse Interesting Calendars
  4. At the Interesting Calendars section click the More tab
  5. You will see “Contacts’ birthdays and events” click subscribe and there you go! As simple as that!

It seems like such an easy addition and normal thing to have on the calendar, I wonder why the phones don’t come with this enabled by default?

Anyone else have any other cool tricks that maybe people don’t know about?

This would be so much more useful if you could do this directly on the handset. Will be tied to the pc all day entering peoples birthdays in, and will have to add via the pc everytime i get a new one.

i tried this. the birthdays show up on my desktop calendar, but do not show up on my android calendar. i use the pure calendar app and they don't show up on that or the stock calendar app. did i do something wrong?

Have the same problem. It's in the desktop calendar, but not in the calendar app. It's also not shown in the calendar I imported into Mozilla Thunderbird Lightning.

Use the BirthdayBox App from Droidea. It will sync all your birthdays from contacts and facebook. The app will give you a notification when there is a birthday, and you have the option to send a text, call, or post a message to facebook right from the app.
