How To Overclock (Kill) Your Motorola Droid
By Brady on Jan 27, 2010 with 3
Is your Motorola Droid running a little slow? Does it need a little pick me up? Then feel free to clock your Droid up to 1.1GHz.
The guys at AllDroid have come up with a way to over-clock the Droid’s ARM Cortex A8 from 550MHz to 1.1GHz . That’s quite an impressive jump! While I’m sure this will greatly speed up your phone, I would imagine it would only speed it up for so long (until your processor burns up). Something about over-clocking a processor at twice the speed it was manufactured for, inside a small area, with no cooling, doesn’t seem like the smartest idea.
However, if you are a risk-taker or rich and have Droids laying around you can find the How-To here .
The AllDroid guys seem to think that 800MHz is a safe speed for your processor, but again do this at your own risk!

I overclocked my droid to 1 GHz and it was the best thing I’ve ever done… my phone now runs smooth, with no lag, no matter what
