    Dear friend,
    The error "There was a problem parsing the package" is related with incompatibility of the .apk file.If the .apk file is a backup of previous version of android then it is not compatible with the current version of android ICS OS.You can try to install apps from play store which are compatible with ICS.Also please try to check the following:
    Go to Settings menu--------------->
    Security-------------------------->
    Device administration-------------->
    Unknown sources----------------->
    Check mark Unknown sources

    Now try to install the .apk file.Hope it will help
    Regards,
    Arvind

    Re: 'There was a problem parsing the package' getting message when trying to install Apps on Android Device

    Hi friend,
    The problem "parsing package" comes due to several reasons..The app may get interrupted while downloading otherwise got corrupted..Sometimes the app from the unkown sources will have this issue..If this occurs,redownload the app and reinstall..

    If so,You can do the following steps
    1.Go to menu
    2.Tap "Settings"
    3.Go to "Applications"
    4.Then tap "Unkonwn Sources"
    5.Tap "Allow" to confirm it

    Thank you!!!

    Re: 'There was a problem parsing the package' getting message when trying to install Apps on Android Device

    Hi,
    This type of error mostly haapens when:
    The download is not completed properly.
    The app is incompatible with your device.
    The app is downloaded from unknown source other than market.
    So,
    In order to avoid this firstly make sure that the app is compatible with your device and is fully downloaded.
    Downloaad it from a tusted source.
    In order to avoid downloading from untrusted sites just do the following:
    Goto SETTINGS.
    Click on APPLICATIONS.
    Then Uncheck UNKNOWN SOURCES.
    That`s it...
    Hope it helps...

    Couple of more points to consider
    If the application is exported unsigned, this type of error may appear.
    I never have issue when I export the app signed..

    I been having the same problem but figured a way around...
    Must be rooted of course
    Go to a root file manager app and paste ur file within root storage.... and install... worked for me

    Unknown sources is ticked and allowed but still getting the error
    But would like someone to find a fix for this, just a drag doing this process all the time

    Re: 'There was a problem parsing the package' getting message when trying to install Apps on Android Device

    My dear friend the problem of parcing the package happens only when there is problem in extracting the source file from the apk file of your application.If you manage to properly extract that then you will get rid of the problem of parcing the package and i am going to tell you how you can do that,,,

    1//. First of all go to main menu.

    2//. Then after that tap on SETTING icon.

    3//. And then you should tap on the tab on Security Settings.

    4. There tap on the option saying Applications.

    5//. And now Mark the option UNKNOWN SOURCE.

    After doing this you Will be able to install your application without any error.

    Good luck!!!
