Delayed: Android 2.1 for the HTC Hero

It looks like European HTC Hero owners will have to wait a little longer for the Android 2.1 update.  The Hero was rumored to be getting the update sometime in mid April but we have now learned it won’t be coming until June.

HTC broke the news while attending a UK event that covered Google Maps Navigation.  They confirmed that it is indeed coming but the OTA update won’t be available until June.  This won’t make Hero owners very happy especially since they are still running Android 1.5.  HTC seemed to drop the ball when it comes to updating to Android 2.1 and this is something they will need to fix fast.  On the other side Motorola seems to have it all under control.  They recently released an Android 2.1 update timeline so every Motorola owner new when to expect theirs.
