App Review – SportsTap

SportsTap is a free app and can be found in the Android Market
If you go to the SportsTap website it says “the ultimate mobile sports portal”, well I think they might be right. This app does exactly what you need it to do, give you up to the minute scores and stats, and it does it wonderfully.
At the home screen you start by choosing a sport. The LocalTap is a cool feature, which lets you select a mile range and it pulls up all of the teams in any of the sports in that area.

Once you select your sport you get a list of games for that day, whether they are alreadyc ompleted, currently playing, or don’t start until later. The scores will refresh automatically and there is also a list of top stories for that sport at the bottom. At the very top you can select a date to see what the score of a prior day’s game was or to see when a team plays in the future.
What if you don’t care about scores and are just looking for stats? At the bottom of the sport’s home page there is News, Standings, Transactions, Season Leaders, Team Statistics, and Team Schedule. If you select a specific game you can see the Scoring Summary, Team comparison, and each team’s respective stats. If you are trying to keep up to date on a current game this app will not let you down because the updates are sent only a few minutes behind the real-time game so you will never miss a beat.

In the SportsTap settings you can select your favorite teams then set up alerts. The settings can be change to alert you when the game starts, when it ends, or anytime there is a score during the game. You can even add a widget on your home screen of your phone to get a snapshot of your favorite teams. If you are a sports fan this app is a must have!
