You might have already been aware of this but extremely cheap apps is just another thing to add to the Android resume. Distimo has compared the average price of apps inÂ the Apple App Store, BlackBerry App World, Google Android Market, Nokia Ovi Store, and Windows Marketplace.

The fact that the Android operating system is Open Source plays a huge part in the price of the apps. There are many great apps that are free. Generally speaking, you can usually find an app for whatever you need that is completely free. The free apps might have an ad incorporated with them but thats the beauty of it, you have your choice. If you don’t the ad you can typically just pay $.99 (still extremely cheap) and get the ad-free version. Even if you pay $2.99 for an ad-free version, you are still paying less than the average.

As you can see in the chart the price of Android apps is higher in Europe but still very fairly priced. Lets hope that the Android Developers continue to keep the price of apps very low and set the bar for other platforms.
